Yesterday was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I got to be part of history in a way that very few humans do. It was not only the largest protest in U.S. history, but likely the largest gathering of solidarity, uniting multiple causes, in the history of humanity.
And it was only the beginning.
There were over a million of us just in D.C., with millions more across the country and the world, and there was no violence, only joy and hope. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you.
The route was lined with MLK quotes outside people's homes.
Along the route you could see in everyone's windows and they were inside cheering us on. An elderly lady briefly held up her walker over her head in front of the window and smiled at us.
An older man drove by and held his fist out of his window and yelled "power to women!"
One woman next to us was talking to her 10 year old daughter and said "you'll remember being here, protesting with this people. One day you'll be their age and you'll be proud" and her daughter replied "I'll be on Mars when I'm their age. I'm going to be the first woman on Mars."
And the police and military were thanking us… US! They were wearing these pink beaded necklaces in support. We kept thanking them and they would say "no, thank you. Please keep doing this.”
